Welcome to the ROPES 2012 website!

ROPES is a literary journal produced annually by the members of the MA in Literature and Publishing class at NUI Galway.

This year marks the landmark 20th issue of ROPES, with this in mind, the theme this year is ‘Links’. We hope to reveal the journey of the publication from its origins in 1993 to the present. ‘Links’ may be interpreted as a reflection on the past and transformations to the present, on changes in people even if they intrinsically remain the same or the effect change has had on our now digital culture.

The launch date is set for 26th of April, 2012 to coincide with Cúirt International Festival of Literature.

Call for Submissions!

The MA Literature and Publishing class of 2012 is delighted to announce the call for submissions for the 20th issue of ROPES.

The theme, this year, is ‘Links’. We hope to reveal the journey of the publication from its origins in 1993 to the present. ‘Links’ may be interpreted as a reflection on the past and transformations to the present, on changes in people even if they intrinsically remain the same or the effect change has had on our now digital culture.

We look forward to your interpretation of ‘Links’.

We invite you to submit pieces of poetry, prose and drama, with a maximum of 2500 words and kindly request that there be no more than three submissions per author. All submissions must be unpublished.

The launch date is set for 26th of April, 2012 to coincide with Cúirt International Festival of Literature. Please furnish all submissions to ropes.submissions@gmail.com no later than 5 pm on the 9th of December 2011.
